Theme 2 is focused on co-development with innovators and evaluation of HealthTech for acute inpatient and outpatient care pathways.
Emergency admissions to NHS hospitals in England are increasing, with admission rates highest in the most deprived communities and emergency readmission within 30 days of hospital discharge has also increased since 2013.
Novel HealthTech is required for efficient diagnosis and to improve outcomes for the sickest patients. Theme 2 will work with the methodology cluster to develop, test and integrate HealthTech that can aid timely and accurate diagnosis in a hospital setting – providing patients with the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Theme 2 will build upon areas of strength within MFT in acute cardiology, respiratory medicine, critical care, infectious disease, and pharmacogenomics (using genetics to predict how patients will respond to treatment) to facilitate research across acute secondary care.
Theme 2 aims to co-develop HealthTech that will:
Improve diagnosis in hospital based emergency and acute care settings.
Provide patients with the optimal care at the right time.
Enable improved patient management within secondary care, improving services and patient outcomes.
