Daniel Taylor
Involvement and Engagement Specialist
Daniel has worked with the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Emergency and Acute Care since 2024, joining as Involvement and Engagement Specialist to embed and support Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE).
He works in a joint role with Vocal, a not-for-profit organisation, hosted by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with The University of Manchester. The mission of Vocal is to bring people and health research together for mutual benefit.
Prior to this Daniel has led work to embed equal partnership with patients and the public within research, health and technology contexts. This includes roles at the Stroke Association, British Red Cross and Queen Mary University of London.
Between 2007 – 2021 he worked at the Wellcome/Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences, hosted by University College London. Here he developed the centre’s PPIE strategy and ran a programme of activity to deliver and support practice, including capacity building for public contributors, engineers and clinical researchers.
As Involvement and Engagement Specialist he works across the HRC’s governance, operations and projects to support good practice approaches to patient and public collaboration in ways that enhance project and public outcomes.
